Bob’s Story
Who was Bob Kutner?
Bob Kutner was born Norbert Kutner on 13 January 1924 in Chemnitz, Germany, into a Polish-Jewish family. When Hitler came to power in 1933 his father decided to leave. The family moved to France, first to the small town of Neuville and then to Paris, before settling in Milan.
Life in Italy was good at first, but after his father died of cancer the family struggled, and Mussolini soon introduced anti-Semitic laws under pressure from Hitler. Bob’s older brother, six years his senior, spied for the French, counting Italian military aircraft. He was caught and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Bob later came to Britain, where he served in an army interrogation unit under the name Bob Kay. He shared his testimony with Gathering the Voices, and Bob’s Story game is based on his experiences as a young boy.

How to play Bob’s Story game
In each level your brother asks you to count a certain thing. Note it down in the journal without being seen.
1. Count objects
Hold down the left mouse button and drag over the object. An ink trail marks it as counted.
2. Watch the stress meter
The meter at the top left drains while you are spying. If it empties you are forced into a time out. Press the spacebar often to hide.

Hover over the object and press the left mouse button. If it can be dragged, keep the button held and move the mouse. Otherwise it changes on its own.
Change camera view (levels 3 and 4)ShowHide
Use the left, up and right arrow keys to switch between the left, middle and right views.
Spy or hide (levels 2, 3 and 4)ShowHide
Press the spacebar to switch between spying and hiding.
